My Teaching Approach

Learning that's Built around You

My approach to guitar lessons is learner-centred. This means that lessons are built around you: your preferences, your interests, your goals. Perhaps you want to focus hard on building expert-level technical skills. Or perhaps you just want have fun learning some tunes. Either way, my lessons are built around the goals and aspirations of the individual.

The Essentials of Guitar

In my lessons, you can expect to develop a strong base of key knowledge, skills and guitar concepts. This includes strumming confidently and fluently; knowing important scales and chords; developing lead playing technique; and learning basic music theory. By focusing on these essentials, I help students to build a strong foundation of core guitar knowledge.

Structured and Purposeful Lessons

As a guitar teacher who also has experience teaching secondary school English, I understand the importance of well-structured lessons. This means that my guitar lessons are carefully planned to maximise the learning time and ensure that students make good progress. I aim to take students on a journey with guitar, learning new skills and techniques in a steady, manageable and fun way.
